Progression to Year 2
The transition from the 1st to the 2nd year is not conditioned by the number of credits achieved.

Progression to Year 3
In order to progress to Year 3 candidates must complete all organised study requirements from year 1, as well as the subject “Modern methods of statistical analysis” and other requirements from Year 2 as specified under Article 22 of the Regulations on the provision of doctoral studies at the FKPV in the Other forms of organised studies section. Students must acquire the approval of the FKPV Senate for their doctoral dissertation topic.

Students can start fulfilling their study obligations for individual research work only after they have fulfilled the study obligations for courses from the 1st (prior to the submission of the disposition) and 2nd year (prior to public presentation of the disposition). In accordance with the syllabus, students fulfil the study obligation for individual research work by preparing the disposition, when the potential mentor approves the outline of the disposition for the doctoral dissertation.

If any changes arise in the planned organisation of the study process (organised part) the Committee for Scientific Research Work and Doctoral Studies can specify different criteria for progression to a higher year and propose them to the Senate for confirmation.

Provisions for transfers between programmes

Transfer from another doctoral programme to all three tracks of the proposed programme is possible if candidates satisfy the requirements for enrolment in the doctoral programme. The application for transfer should be accompanied by a certified confirmation of completed study obligations at the doctoral studies in which the student was previously enrolled, as well as by the official transcript of syllabi of courses and other study contents the student has completed. On the proposal of the head of the doctoral study programme the application is handled by the Commission for scientific research work and doctoral studies of FCBS, and finally decided upon by the Senate of the Faculty. Transfer is carried out on the basis of recognition of study obligations completed at the programme in which students were previously enrolled. In granting the transfer, the equivalence of study contents (courses and other components of the study programme), equivalence of the scope of courses (credits) and requirements for enrolment in the previous doctoral programme are taken into consideration. Students may be assigned additional obligations they have to fulfil in order to complete the doctoral programme at the Faculty of Commercial and Business Science.

Types and forms of study

The doctoral study programme will be implemented as part time studies at the Faculty’s premises in Celje and Ljubljana. In order for the programme to be implemented, at least 28 candidates must apply for the programme at a single location.

Requirements for completion of studies

In order to complete the study programme, students have to fulfil all prescribed study obligations and write and defend the doctoral dissertation, thus acquiring 180 credits.

Academic title

After completing all obligations prescribed by the study programme, students acquire the academic title of doktor/doktorica znanosti. The title is abbreviated as Dr.

The faculty may recognize the knowledge and skills acquired prior to enrolment in the 3rd cycle postgraduate study programme in accordance with Criteria on Accreditation of higher education institutions and study programmes, the Statute and other internal general acts. The acquired knowledge may be recognized in whole or in part, depending on the extent to which it corresponds to subject-specific competences and contents of the proposed programmes. Recognized may be knowledge or skills acquired by formal, informal or experiential learning. The basis for recognition is a written application accompanied by official certificates and outlines of the completed programme or other written certificates specifying the level of the acquired knowledge. The level of recognition of study obligations is approved on the proposal of the head of the doctoral study programme by the Commission for scientific research work and doctoral studies, which evaluates the recognized knowledge and skills with ECTS credits.

The acquired knowledge and skills are recognised based on the following documents: certificates and other documents proving the acquired knowledge and its contents; published articles in revised scientific journals or at conferences, if they correspond to the contents of the study programme; reports on applicative research and counselling projects, if they correspond to the contents of the study programme. The adequacy of the recognized knowledge and skills acquired prior to enrolment in the programme is assessed by the Commission for scientific research work and doctoral studies after it has acquired the opinion of the head of the doctoral studies.

The acquired knowledge and skills are recognised based on the following documents:

• certificates and other documents proving the knowledge acquired outside the faculty;
• grades for papers, services, publications or other works, if they correspond to the contents of the selected study module; the grading is carried out by the coordinator of the corresponding course;
• certificate of previously graded knowledge or, for certain courses, the completed examination, even if not included in the study programme;
• published articles in reviewed scientific journals or at conferences, if they correspond to the contents of the selected study module, based on the opinion of the coordinator of the corresponding course;
• reports on applicative research and counselling projects, if they correspond to the contents of the selected study module, based on the opinion of the coordinator of the corresponding course;
• confirmation of the organization where the candidate acquired working experience in the selected study field. Only experience where the monitoring and application of theoretical achievements was necessary can be recognized, based on the opinion of the coordinator of the corresponding course.
